Learn the experience of hospice workers, as shared in a Huffington Post article
We are excited to announce that Marianne was featured as a guest in a Huffington Post article titled “Hospice Workers Share The Foods That Bring Patients Comfort Till The End, Plus, they reveal how families can support their loved ones with scents, small bites and shared memories.“
Julie Kendrick interviewed several workers that highlighted how “food plays an emotional role in the last stages of life.”
But we don’t need to set the rules…let them enjoy even just the smells and tiny bites. We have to remember that the body is shutting down, and digestion is becoming less and less of a priority.
Marianne shared her own personal experience with her sister; she said that “certain people may be happy with just one bite of a formerly beloved food. ‘When my sister was dying, I got us White Castle hamburgers, which had been our thing,’ she recalled, referring to the restaurant chain. ‘My sister took one bite, chewed it and liked it. But then she laughed and told me that, at this point, she was finding food to be overrated.'”
