Does Education Level Change Mortality Rates?

As discussed in the podcast, Novosad and colleagues analyzed mortality from 1992 to 2018 among the least-educated 10 percent of Americans (this includes high school dropouts). The startling thing is the rate that some population group mortalities are increasing.

A series of charts that show all-cause mortality change in education percentiles. The lowest 10th percentile of education has the highest mortality rate

Estimates suggest that promoting education to reduce health disparities could save 8 times more lives than could be saved through medical advances in drugs and devices.

Keep encouraging those around you to stay in school. It’s never too late! Here is a great resource to help: FinishYourDiploma.org
